ANFF-Qld Places First Purchase Order for MPO 100 Two-Photon Polymerization Tool

mpo100 is a multi-user tool for the simultaneous requirements of 3D lithography and 3D microprinting. It allows component heights of over 1 cm and surfaces with roughness in the order of 10 nm as well as structure sizes down to 100 nm. The system works with a laser wavelength in the green spectral range and offers application-specific writing modes for customer-specific printing needs. Heidelberg/Wurzburg, January 18, 2022 – The Australian National Fabrication Facility – Queensland Node (ANFF-Qld) based at the University of Queensland, Australia has placed one of the first purchase orders for Multiphoton’s recently launched MPO 100 two-photon polymerization tool. The system, developed by Multiphoton Optics GmbH and manufactured by the company’s parent company Heidelberg Instruments Mikrotechnik GmbH, will provide cutting-edge micro- and nano-fabrication fabrication capabilities to ANFF-Qld.

ANFF-Qld is a joint research facility for the University of Queensland and the Queensland Government. The facility aims to accelerate the development of new technologies with high economic and societal impact. The MPO 100 will help ANFF-Qld to address the growing demand for advanced semiconductors, microfluidics and biomedicine devices. The MPO 100 will be on display at the SPIE Photonics West 2022 in San Francisco from January 25 – 27.

The Mpo100  was developed by the German company Multiphoton Optics GmbH and will be delivered by the parent company, Heidelberg Instruments Mikrotechnik GmbH. It is optimized to use typical photoresist materials and works with a laser wavelength in the green-spectral range. It features sophisticated algorithms to maximize structure quality and a synchronized scanning system for stitching-free patterning. The MPO 100 also offers the possibility of applying hybrid polymers, which is an important feature for many applications.

BlueOptics HPE compatible H6Z30A 100 Meter MPO-MPO OM4 Fiber Patch Cables are fully tested after production with interferometer and optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR). All cables are made of high-quality multi-mode fibers with thermosetting or thermoplastic MT-RJ connectors from established, traditional manufacturers such as Corning, Nissin Kasei or Reichle & De-Massari. The OM4 MPO connectors have zirconia ceramic ferrules which guarantee a lifetime of up to 1500 mating cycles. All cables are compliant with the Telcordia requirements GR-326-Core 4.4. The fibers are bonded to the connector with epoxy, which ensures perfect cable alignment and low loss. This ensures maximum data transmission over long distances with a high signal-to-noise ratio. All the connections are clearly labeled for easy identification. They are also polarized to prevent wrong plugging and allow users to avoid damaging the connectors. Moreover, the MPO-MPO OM4 connectors have an insertion loss lower than 1 dB per kilometer. This makes the MPO-MPO OM4 Fiber patch cable a reliable choice for long distance transmission over single mode fibers. The cable is supplied with a comprehensive test report that includes input and return loss values as well as OTDR plots. This helps users to optimize their installation. In addition, the cable has a black jacket with a white or orange label to make it easily identifiable in the data cabinet.
